23rd to 28th August 2020 in Leeuwarden, The Nederlands
The global COVID19 crisis has profoundly impacted education across the EU and faced a variety of challenges overnight for schools.
Returning to a kind of “pre-kovid” normal state is most likely not an option, and it is expected that most EU countries will develop mixed, hybrid teaching and learning models, or may even have to reinvent essential parts of their education systems. “Remote learning” can be used as a new part of pedagogy. It makes sense to use the capabilities of the technology in a smart, practical, yet flexible way that goes far beyond what it has been used for today.
Many countries have initiated initiatives to use technology as a catalyst for innovation. These can be large national initiatives such as the German “Digital Pact School”, but also projects that are supported by regional or local municipalities and are in line with the EU action plan for digital education. However, technology is only part of the solution.
This leads us to the essential question: How could we develop approaches for mixed, “remote-controlled” teaching and learning that enable schools and teachers to deal with this in a relaxed manner and to use digital components in an attractive way for all sides.
In 4 sessions, aspects and approaches of combined teaching and learning in post-COVID schools are examined. With the help of design thinking techniques and experience from school visits in Friesland, the participants jointly develop a tailor-made framework for “technology-based blended learning” in their schools.
The working language is English.
